Johnny Tyrone, a showbiz star and martial arts wizard, sings a tune urging the young man to go east. To his surprise, a clandestine group known as the Assassins kidnaps him and transports him to a remote Arabian realm that has been isolated from the world for 2,000 years. There, he encounters Sheik Elvis Presley and former Miss America Mary Ann Mobley, his co-star in Girl Happy.

Elvis, portraying Johnny in this musical comedy, teams up with Mary Ann Mobley in a tuneful frolic filled with excitement. The film was partially shot on the original set used for Cecil B. DeMille's 1927 epic King of Kings and was directed by Gene Nelson, a veteran of music movie musicals.

The kidnappers have a dark mission for Johnny - they want him to use his fighting skills to assassinate a desert king. However, Johnny is not a hitman but rather a hit singer, known for his performances of songs like Kismet and Harum Holiday. Despite the dangerous situation he finds himself in, Johnny brings his jammin', scammin', swashbuckling charm to the screen in the lively adventure of Harum Scarum.
